Double Juicy Lucy is a great example of a fulfilled potential of New England IPA. Substantial oatmeal content and high gravity create a smooth soft backbone for a huge dry-hop addition of Citra and Mosaic hops. Thanks to a specific hop regime and an extensive water modification, only the hop oils and other aromatic contents get extracted, while the bitter acids stay in the hop plant.
This beer style is about the flavour and aroma of the hops, for that we chose the most famous ones. Citra became the most known hop of the modern wave of brewing thanks to its uncompromising citrusy character. It is interesting, that Citra existed, untouched, for 18 years as a couple of plants before being first commercialy used in 2008. Mosaic is newer, a product of purely 21st century, it’s cultivation process began in 2001 and it was only in 2012 that it was realesed to public, gaining fame quickly as an offspring of Simcoe hops. Its rise to prominence was thanks to new rich character of mango and stonefruits.
