White Stout is not quite a stout nor a pale style, and its taste is similarly difficult to categorize. In the beer world, it used to stir up emotions and create warring camps, but we don’t hear about it very often these days. Its existence is not very long and it started as an April Fool’s joke by Stone and Brewdog breweries. But this joke, which mocked the senseless combination of styles, got out of control and brewers started trying to make it real. We try to imitate the roastiness of stout with hop bitterness, coffee and cocoa beans. Barley and oat flakes together with vanilla beans add flavor a softness. You can safely distinguish the taste from a classic stout, but it will definitely remind you of one.
