It took many years of freedom before Czech brewers dared to look beyond towards the foreign brewing worlds and modern fads and found the courage to oppose the hegemony of the Czech brewing tradition. It was precisely the non-violent Velvet Revolution that marks the end of the previous regime, and without the changes it brought about such as opening up to the world and the return of private enterprise, we might have not had any &#8220;craft brewing&#8221; today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">When we were deciding what style of beer to make to celebrate this important anniversary, we knew that it must not be anything typically Czech. We wanted to celebrate Czech brewing as part of the world and therefore brewed a modern &#8220;western&#8221; style using two of the most modern American hop varieties, Sabro and Vista.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXO94657942 BCX0\" lang=\"CS-CZ\" xml:lang=\"CS-CZ\" data-contrast=\"auto\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXO94657942 BCX0\">Probably no date is more significant to a Czech than the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, the day that became the virtual beginning of the modern Czech state. To celebrate this anniversary, we&#8217;ve brewed a beer we probably never could have brewed without the revolution &#8211; our favorite New England IPA style.
