Yugoslavia’s former hop-growing programme was one of the oldest in Europe. Indeed, Slovenia’s sunny climate, shaded by the Italian mountains, makes it a great place to grow aromatic hops, but also grapes for example. With the increasing emphasis on localness and regional authenticity, the amount of hops grown in Slovenia has begun to rise, and so hops that were previously hard to find are now easily available even here in the Czech Republic.<\/p>\n
