Imagine a beer that smells and tastes like a trip to a Hungarian kitchen. Our friend Botond from Hungarian brewery B*Bop Fermentory and I thought we&#8217;d try something you don&#8217;t often see &#8211; a goulash-inspired beer.<br \/>\nWe chose Gose as our base, a slightly sour and salty beer style originally from Germany. We added a lot of tomato passata, onions, peppers, carrots and most importantly authentic goulash spices &#8211; Hungarian paprika, tarragon, caraway seeds, bay leaf, pepper and allspice. The result is a beer extravaganza that, while still remaining beer, is on the edge of culinary experimentation. Is it beer? It is. Is it a goulash? Sort of.
