In the Old School series, we bring you the beer styles that started the whole craft beer trend a few decades ago. These styles reflect a different time and world of beers where bitterness and a more complex malt profile prevailed. From the 1970s to the 1990s, many beer styles has appeared that you rarely can taste today, and it is precisely this taste that we are trying to convey to you in an unpolished way.   References to the original English Brown Ale varietal date back to 18th cebtury, but it remained a very marginal and later practically a dead style until the second half of the 20th century. It was first rediscovered in Scotland, soon after in Texas, and there the American version was created, which uses the higher bitterness and aroma of local “C-hops”. Today, American Brown Ale is more of a rarity, so be sure to try it while you can.
