Rajda is a modern Rye IPA we brew together with Martin Urban aka Třínohý Jelen. The rye addition into the grist attributes a more pronounced bitter, herbal and peppery character, that brings forward the American hop varieties we used in this recipe.

Rye IPA is slowly becoming a historical style, considering its rise to prominence began somewhere along with the beginning of the American craft beer revolution in the 80s and 90s as one of the first experiments with alternative grains in modern beer styles. Its popularity comes mainly from its ability to increase the perceived bitterness, which used to be the main goal for the early days of craft beer. Today, bitterness so strong it lingers for days is no longer the aim, but it is always nice to look back to the times when it wasn’t all about huge aromatic bombs.   In Rajda you’ll taste the American hop varietals Citra, Simcoe and Amarillo, which add a beautiful character of citrus, pine and resin. Pleasant but intense bitterness then reminds us of where IPA came from. 500 ml, alc. 6.5 % vol.
