We teamed up again this year with our friends at Prague’s Strahov Brewery to brew a variation of our collaboration from last year. This year you can also look forward to a bock, a strong semi-dark lager that we have flavoured with blueberries, poppy seeds and vanilla.

Bock is a traditional German bottom-fermented beer style typically brewed for the autumn months with a higher strength than is usual for German lagers. The higher strength and the use of German malts make it very full and bready and the German hops often add a nice floral dimension. We thought this nice bready body would be a good base for a little experiment with interesting ingredients. So we decided to combine this tradition with another German evergreen. Germknödel is a large dumpling filled with plum jam, topped with vanilla sauce and sprinkled with poppy seeds and sugar, which is as much a Bavarian speciality like a bock is. This year we’ve swapped the plum pudding for blueberries and we think this combination works beautifully.
