For our first Scottish Ale we chose its light iterration. We made a 10 Plato beer with surprisingly thick body thanks to English malts. Skotskovec will surprise you with substantial bitterness created by English Challenger hops. We brewed this beer for Scottish games in Zichovec.

Scottish ale is often an overlooked part of beer world. It is an unique historical style from Scotland defined by it’s thick malt body and light hopping with English hops. It is a style with distinct earthy qualities typical for english ingredients. When a brewery brews a Scottish Ale in Czech Republic, it is typicallyits strongest version – Wee Heavy, it is often forgotten, that possible mstrenght of Scottish Ales is very versatile. Scottish Ale is historically divided into 4 groups according to its strenght and also historically according to its taxation – Light, Heavy, Export and Wee Heavy (or according to old tax levels 60, 70, 80 or 90 shilling). We wanted to introduce a lighter version of Scottish Ale to our Czech drinkers and that’s the way Skotskovec came to be.
