We have a lot in common with Dutch brewery White Dog, we focus on similar styles, we like to experiment and explore new landscapes of beer. But when planning our collab, we took a slightly different route and thought we’d combine the traditional Witbier wheat style with modern, fragrant hops. The result is a beautiful dry and fragrant beer that is a great fit for a full pint.

In January we held the very first iteration of the Winter Affair international beer festival, where we invited Europe’s top brewers and arranged collaboration batches with six of them. Now we’re introducing them all in short succession. A big theme in modern brewery collaboration is “what are we gonna brew?” Because no one typically wants to brew something they could easily brew themselves. So what comes down to often is to reach for styles that are a bit on the fringe. Witbier, a Belgian wheat with orange peel and coriander, may not be a case of some rare style (thanks to one big producer), but it’s not exactly a common part of small breweries’ portfolios either. We’re very happy to have agreed with White Dog on a postmodern interpretation of this classic. American Simcoe and New Zealand Motueka hops add nice notes of grapefruit and pine needles to the orange.
