In Belgium, a strong Belgian ale called Bière de Nöel is traditionally brewed at Christmas. These are basically strong, dark and dry quadrupels and have a subtle addition of Christmas spices. This year, we’ve tapped into that tradition too and bring you our own interpretation.

The tradition of special Christmas beers goes back a long way, and has been split and refined a little differently in each beer culture over time. In Belgium, they have a tradition of Christmas beers called “Bière de Nöel”, which are strong Belgian darker ales (or Quadrupel) at the base and then elegantly flavoured with Christmas spices. In our version, and in homage to Belgian tradition, we reached for cloves and nutmeg, which gave our Quadruep a pleasant aroma. This strong beer will surprise you with its dryness, and it’s worth letting it warm up before you drink it.
